Battle of the Future Buddhas started making trance music in 1994 in Uppsala, Sweden. The members were David Tingsgård, Magnus Bladh and Johan Rosén. David is now keeping the vibe alive and is producing and playing live, but Magnus and Johan still operate in the background from time to time.

BOTFB made a name for themselves on the DAT-market in the 90s and were played in Goa and forest parties. Releases followed on many labels, the most notable to date being the album Twin Sharkfins on BooM! Records 1998. Since then BOTFB have gone through a few different phases and have an extremely wide range of music, from the harshest industrial sounds to the fluffiest melodic morning music.

Their distinct sound has not been copied by anyone else, always with a strong sense of melody, be it twisted and haunting or harmonic and upliftning.

BOTFB released the album Digging Mud on their own in 2011, with a collection of old tracks from the 90s, and have since been on a more or less retro trip, perhaps culminating with the release of The Light Behind the Sun on Suntrip in 2019. The sound is softer and slower, but still powerful and melodic and this culminated with the highly appraised album “Songs From A Forgotten Memory” on Suntrip in 2022.

During all the years BOTFB have been touring on 5 different continents and play small parties and some of the medium festivals, including Apsara and ZNA, always delivering intense sets that take the crowd on a wild journey from darkness to light.
